Currently I work full-time as a Communications Graphic Designer for a large supermarket chain, working on print and intranet web design projects. I would love to show you those projects but I can't. But what I can show you in this portfolio is a variety of freelance client work and some of my artistic avenues.
I have always been a visual person, as many designers are. In my first two-years of college I started as a Fine Arts major looking to develop my sculpture skills. But at the same time I also enjoyed creative writing, and with the help of a wonderful professor at HCCC college, I turned to Professional & Technical Communications (ProTechCom, currently referred to as Information Design in most colleges now). The major combined Graphic Design and Technical Writing, opening a new avenue using technology that I had never considered before. I continued my education at Sunyit, graduating with a bachelors degree in ProTechCom.
A few years ago I started taking freelance projects as a hobby to improve my design and communication skills. During this time I realized the importance of a design and the intuitive nature it takes to understand the clients needs and deadlines. I take my projects seriously, but I still like to add a little humor during the day. I still continue to take freelance jobs because I like the challenge each project brings to me. I also like working on projects on my own time, in the comfort of my home. Sometimes I just need to get out of that office setting!
Besides involving myself in nerdy computer projects, I have become an avid equestrian over the years. Currently I am learning Dressage, and having the greatest time! When not riding I can usually be found on a nature hike, being a bookworm, or working on a sculpture or painting.
I'm glad you've taken the time to view my work
and I look forward to working with you!
